ArrivaClick is an intelligent, on demand and flexible minibus service that takes multiple passengers heading in the same direction and books them into a shared vehicle. Run by Arriva – a DB company -ArrivaClick “is a bus that’s smart enough to come when you want it and where you want it”.
This new service has just started in March 2017 in and around Kent Science Park and Sittingbourne rail station – but as it is run by a major national bus company it is likely to be rolled out across other areas of the country including rural areas.
Using the latest smartphone app technology on a iPhone or Android, passengers just click and select pick up and drop off points. It’s a corner-to-corner service, where passengers are picked you up at a nearby corner and then dropped off within a couple of streets of their requested destination. This helps us ensure that even with multiple pickups, trip times are as efficient as they can be.
Arriva become the first UK national operator to launch a fully customer led demand responsive service – developed in partnership with US transportation solutions firm Via that provides dynamic shared ride services in New York, Chicago and Washington DC.
The ArrivaClick smartphone app enables customers to request a smart minibus from their pick up point at a time they want and to a destination of their choosing, their journey will then be matched with other people heading towards the same destination. Once booked, customers are guaranteed a seat on the high specification buses, which can accommodate 12 people, and are able to enjoy leather seats, use of a table, USB points, free Wi-Fi and electrical charging points.
